The Gardens of the Logis de Forge

The Logis de Forge Gardens are a remarkable garden that combines historical heritage with exceptional natural beauty, offering a unique and poetic landscape experience.

History and Description

The Logis de Forge, dating from the 15th century, and its 18th-century hamlet, extend around a pond fed by a natural spring. Ghislain and Martine de Beaucé restored the buildings and created the gardens, drawing inspiration from their travels around the world and their careful observation of nature. The site harmoniously blends vegetation, rock, and water, with over 5 hectares of varied landscapes and water features.

Spanning 5 hectares, the gardens feature seven distinct areas connected by bridges:

• An enclosed garden with dry-stone walls and boxwood, featuring canals lined with roses and gauras.
• A water feature and spring forming a pond with aquatic plants.
• A pond with pink and white water lilies.
• A clearing and gazebo surrounded by bald cypresses, rose bushes, and clematis.
• A flowing garden on wet ground shaped like a heart-shaped river, featuring silver willows.
• Rectangular pools and reflecting pools surrounding waterfalls and Italian cypresses.
• A Renaissance garden and orchard-vegetable garden featuring lavender, roses, dahlias, and morning glories.

Elements such as bronze sculptures, gazebos, and a mill wheel enrich the landscape and create an immersive and poetic atmosphere.
