Statue of Lucien

The statue of Lucien is one of the best-known symbols of Angoulême, the city of comics.

• It depicts Lucien (Lebrac), the famous rocker created by cartoonist Frank Margerin in 1979.
• The statue, sculpted by François Cortès, was donated to the city in 1998.
• It is about 5 meters tall and weighs nearly 500 kg.
• Today, it stands atop the Angoulême train station building, where it welcomes visitors arriving by train.

The statue has had a turbulent history: it has been vandalized several times and restored on multiple occasions before finding its current home atop the train station.
