The Medieval Days of La Couronne

11th edition.

The Medieval Days of La Couronne (also known as ‘Les Médiévales’) will take place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September 2026. Organised by the association La Couronne, une Histoire de Cœur, this annual event transforms the magnificent ruins of Notre-Dame de La Couronne Abbey (Charente) into a veritable medieval village.

The festival offers a fully immersive experience thanks to numerous historical re-enactments and family activities throughout the weekend:

• Medieval camp: A re-enactment of everyday life from that era, featuring demonstrations of traditional crafts.
• Combat and jousting: Displays of knights in armour battling and equestrian feats.
• Crafts market: Around thirty local craftspeople (blacksmiths, leatherworkers, cabinetmakers, jewellers) exhibit their creations.
• Children’s area: Introductory archery workshops, traditional games and mini creative workshops.
• Grand banquet and show: Held on Saturday evening from 8.00 pm, this dinner and show features an equestrian performance and fire-eaters (bookings required).

Free parking is available next to the site.

The abbey is easily accessible to people with reduced mobility.
