Playground - Gontran Labrégère Park

Gontran-Labrégère Square is a small public park located in the Saint-Cybard neighborhood, west of Angoulême’s historic center. It is a popular place for families and local residents to relax.

The playground is primarily designed for young children and includes:

• a merry-go-round;
• a seesaw;
• a hammock swing;
• artificial turf under the equipment to improve safety;
• benches for accompanying adults;
• shaded areas providing a pleasant setting.

History

• The park is named after Gontran Labrégère (1922–1941), a young Resistance fighter from Charente who was executed by firing squad during World War II. The site honors his memory and is part of the neighborhood’s historical heritage.
• The park was renovated in 2012–2013 to create a playground for children.
