Les Filles de Beauregard
About
At the Beauregard estate in Saint-Saturnin, Émilie Cheminaud and her team are pursuing a simple idea: transforming the farm’s produce into original delicacies. Hazelnuts, fruit, cereals and grapes are turned into jams, spreads, sweets, chocolates and fine food products.
The venture combines farming with artisanal processing, driven by a strong commitment to working as closely as possible with the raw ingredients produced on the family’s land. Les Filles de Beauregard are committed to sustainable farming and recipes free from additives, preservatives and palm oil.
History and origins
The estate’s history is deeply rooted in Charente’s family farming tradition. Records show that a farm existed at Beauregard, a hamlet of Saint-Saturnin, as early as 1896. Several generations of women from the family subsequently played an active role in the estate’s agricultural life: growing crops, rearing livestock, producing butter and selling milk.
In 2015, Émilie Cheminaud, an agricultural engineer and farmer, took over the Beauregard estate and planted her first hazelnut trees. The following year, she created the brand Les Filles de Beauregard. The old wine cellars were then converted into a kitchen-laboratory and a shop, enabling the processing of the farm’s produce.
The name “Les Filles de Beauregard” pays tribute to the land of Beauregard and to the many women who have been part of the family’s agricultural history.
Expertise
What sets Les Filles de Beauregard apart is the close link between agricultural production and artisanal processing.
In particular, the hazelnuts are processed on site: they are roasted and ground before being used in certain products. The jams, meanwhile, are cooked in small cauldrons using a traditional method.
The farm grows hazelnuts, fruit, cereals, pulses and vines. When certain ingredients are not produced on site, Les Filles de Beauregard state that they prioritise French producers, and where possible those from the Charente region.
The farm practises sustainable agriculture and the brand has been a member of the Collège Culinaire de France since 2022. It also holds the Artisans Gourmands de Nouvelle-Aquitaine label.
The range
The range is particularly varied:
- Hazelnuts: whole, sweetened or salted, showcasing the farm’s own produce.
- Spreads: gourmet recipes made with hazelnuts, free from palm oil and preservatives.
- Artisanal jams: made with fruit from the orchards, using classic or more original recipes.
- Fruit jellies and sweets: artisanal treats.
- Chocolates: a range produced using the ‘bean-to-bar’ method.
- Hazelnut oil: oil made from French hazelnuts.
- Hazelnut mustard and condiments: for more gourmet uses.
- Products featuring Cognac and Pineau des Charentes: a way of extending the range’s Charente heritage.
- Grape-based products: notably non-alcoholic sparkling grape juice and liquid grape sugar.
The signature product
The Charente hazelnut is undoubtedly the best introduction to the world of Les Filles de Beauregard.
Planted on the estate from 2015–2016 onwards, the hazelnut trees have become a signature feature of the farm. The hazelnuts are then transformed into a wide variety of products: spreads, oil, coated hazelnuts, savoury and sweet preparations, and confectionery.
Whether enjoyed simply on a slice of toast, in a dessert, with chocolate, or to add a crunchy touch to a savoury dish, the hazelnut offers a taste of the unique craftsmanship practised at Beauregard.
The visitor experience
This discovery begins in the Beauregard estate shop, where visitors can browse the farm’s produce and chat with the team.
Les Filles de Beauregard also take part in markets, fairs and events dedicated to producers and gastronomy. These events offer the chance to discover the products and taste them first-hand.
