Croisard et Fils

Located in Roullet-Saint-Estèphe, south of Angoulême, Croisard et Fils is a family-run wine estate with deep roots in the Charente region. The family cultivates the vines and produces its own range of products, including Pineau des Charentes, Cognac, wines and grape juice.

The estate also offers direct sales, allowing visitors to discover the products right where they are made.

History and origins

The estate’s history dates back to 1939, when the property was acquired by the Croisard family. Jean Croisard then took over part of the family business in 1977 with his wife Patricia. The couple gradually diversified the business by bottling their own produce.

In 2008, Pierre Croisard joined his father and EARL Croisard et Fils was established. The estate is thus part of a family history that now spans four generations of winegrowers.

Expertise

The estate combines vine cultivation with the production and marketing of several specialities that are emblematic of the Charente vineyards.

The vineyards are situated in the Petite Champagne and Fins Bois crus, two terroirs within the Cognac appellation, and cover approximately 35 hectares. The estate also cultivates 80 hectares of cereals.

The Croisard family’s work is thus rooted in a winemaking tradition where grape production forms the starting point for various expressions of the terroir: wine, Pineau des Charentes, Cognac and grape juice.

The products

• Pineau des Charentes. An iconic product of the regional terroir, Pineau combines grape must and Cognac. Croisard et Fils offers a range of these products.
• Cognac. The estate also produces Cognac from its vineyards, which are situated in particular in the Petite Champagne and Fins Bois appellations.
• Charente wines. The range includes several wines, notably reds, whites and rosés.
• Grape juice. The estate rounds off its range with grape juice, a simple way to enjoy the fruit from the vineyard without alcohol.

To discover the gourmet identity of Croisard et Fils, Pineau des Charentes is a must-try.

Served well chilled, it is perfect as an aperitif, but also pairs beautifully with Charentais melon, foie gras, certain cheeses or fruity desserts.

The visitor experience

Jean, Pierre and Patricia Croisard welcome you to the heart of the 16th-century Logis de Fontfroide for a tour of their winery, where Charente regional wines are made, and the ageing cellar for Pineau des Charentes. You’ll also be able to explore the vineyard and learn about the winemaking process and the production of Pineau des Charentes. This tour can be enhanced by a tasting of local specialities: a picnic basket (to enjoy on site or take away) or a winemaker’s aperitif (by booking only, for groups of 5 or more) to be enjoyed with a gourmet platter.
