Domaine des Sens – Olivier Seguin

In Marsac, in the heart of the Charente, the Domaine des Sens carries on a family tradition spanning several generations. Olivier Seguin is developing a farming approach focused on quality, biodiversity and short supply chains.

On an estate covering around 17 hectares, part of the land is devoted to Cognac, whilst the plots intended for bottling produce a range of wines, Pineau des Charentes, crémant and grape juice.

History and origins

Domaine des Sens is part of a long-standing family farming tradition. Sources dedicated to the estate refer to the business being passed down through several generations, with the Seguin family having been present there since the 19th century.

In the 1990s, the family decided to convert the estate to organic farming. Olivier Seguin continues this approach today, with a particular focus on promoting his produce locally.

Expertise

The estate combines viticulture, processing and direct sales. Organic farming is one of its key distinguishing features.

The vineyards are used to produce various vintages, as well as Pineau des Charentes and grape juice. The estate also cultivates other agricultural land as part of its diversification strategy.

The produce

• White Pineau des Charentes. An iconic speciality of the Charente region, crafted using the estate’s winemaking expertise.
• White, red and rosé wines. Domaine des Sens offers several styles of wine from its vineyards. The grape varieties include, in particular, Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Merlot and Cabernet.
• White Crémant. A sparkling wine produced by the estate.
• Grape juice. Available in both classic and sparkling versions, it offers a way to enjoy the fruit of the vine without alcohol.

The signature product

Pineau des Charentes is one of Domaine des Sens’s flagship products.

Served chilled, it can be enjoyed as an aperitif or paired with Charentais melon, foie gras, certain cheeses or a fruity dessert.

The visitor experience

Domaine des Sens welcomes the public directly to the farm. Farm tours are available, and the estate also organises grape-harvesting activities with schools as well as grape harvest festivals.

Where to find the products?

Products are sold directly from the farm in Marsac. Domaine des Sens also has a stall at the Marsac market, particularly on the second Saturday of the month.

The products are also available through various local distribution channels, including Le Bio d’Ici and La Ruche qui dit Oui – Angoulême. Home delivery is available within a 40 km radius of Angoulême for orders of €30 or more.
